Softball Game Preview: Union Grove Christian Patriots vs. Forsyth Home Educators Hawks

The Union Grove Christian Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Forsyth Home Educators Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Forsyth Home Educators will be up against a hot Union Grove Christian team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. Everything went Union Grove Christian's way against Salisbury on Thursday as Union Grove Christian made off with a 15-2 win.

Morgan Donovant was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Isabella Lott was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bethany Yarbrough, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Union Grove Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Forsyth Home Educators, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Lee Park Prep 15-8 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hawks considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Union Grove Christian's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Forsyth Home Educators, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Union Grove Christian came up short against Forsyth Home Educators in their previous meeting on March 6th, falling 5-2. Can Union Grove Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
