Basketball Game Preview: Apex Cougars vs. Holly Springs Golden Hawks

Apex hasn't had much luck against Holly Springs recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Apex Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Holly Springs Golden Hawks at 6:00 p.m.

Apex is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They took a 53-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Green Hope. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 420th, while the Falcons are ranked 205th).

Meanwhile, Holly Springs came into Friday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 80-63 win over Panther Creek on Friday.

Holly Springs' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-5. As for Apex, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Apex suffered a grim 67-47 defeat to Holly Springs when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Apex avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
