Football Recap: St. Cloud's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

St. Cloud had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Innovation Bulls a 26-0 shutout. The final result isn't all the surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Bulls are ranked 319th).

St. Cloud's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB seven times. Innovation's QB won't forget Deishalee Pena anytime soon given she sacked her five times. Pena also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight.

St. Cloud's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 22.4 points. As for Innovation, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Cloud will take on Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Bulldogs 8.2, the Hawks 5.3) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Innovation, they will square off against Dr. Phillips at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 11.9 points per game this season, so the Bulls' offense will have their work cut out for them.
