Softball Recap: Clayton's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

Clayton fell victim to Corinth Holders and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Comets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Clayton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Autumn Joyce, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

The defeat snapped Clayton's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-2 record. As for Corinth Holders, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Looking ahead, Clayton will head out to challenge Fuquay - Varina at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clayton's pitchers better be ready for this one: Fuquay - Varina has averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Corinth Holders, they will head out on the road to face off against South Garner at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Garner has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.29 runs per game on average), something Corinth Holders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
