Softball Game Preview: Evansville North Huskies vs. Castle Knights

Evansville North is 2-8 against Castle since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Huskies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Evansville North will be strutting in after a victory while Castle will be coming in after a loss.

Evansville North took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Evansville Central get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won six in a row.

The result came thanks to Lily Elliot's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, Evansville North got a massive performance out of Hannah Wilke, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Wilke has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ripley Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Evansville North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Castle fell victim to Henderson County and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Colonels. The Knights' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Castle's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Evansville North, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
