Basketball Recap: St. Francis Takes a Loss

St. Francis lost against Chicago Mt. Carmel back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The St. Francis Spartans lost 69-44 to the Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-21.

Leading Chicago Mt. Carmel to victory were Noah Mister and Grant Best. Mister went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points along with eight assists and six steals, while Best went 7 for 9 on his way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Best's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Thomas, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Chicago Mt. Carmel, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-5.

St. Francis and Chicago Mt. Carmel should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. St. Francis (ranked 196th) will meet Aurora Central Catholic (ranked 605th) at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th. Similarly, Chicago Mt. Carmel will challenge Urbana at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday up 199 places (17 vs. 216).
