Basketball Recap: Pekin Takes a Loss

Pekin lost against Hersey back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pekin Dragons received a blow as they fell 63-46 to the Hersey Huskies. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Huskies are ranked 24th).

Pekin has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Hersey, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.

Pekin will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Canton at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Hersey, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-53 win against Lanphier on the 28th.
