Softball Recap: Campo Verde Has No Trouble Against Mesquite

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Canyon View, Campo Verde was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Mesquite Wildcats. The high-scoring effort was just what the Coyotes needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Addyson Armstrong spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rylan Renowden, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Anna Zehring, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Campo Verde was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Campo Verde has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Mesquite, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Coming up, Campo Verde is taking a road trip to challenge Notre Dame Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Mesquite, they will challenge Mohave Accelerated at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
