Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Lancers vs. Villa Park Spartans

Having just played yesterday, the Lakewood Lancers will jump right back in to play the Villa Park Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Lakewood beat Jordan 80-68.

Meanwhile, Villa Park strolled past Baldwin with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 64-47. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Spartans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 100th in California, while the Bears are ranked 29th in Hawaii).

Villa Park has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Lakewood, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Lakewood was able to grind out a solid win over Villa Park in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, winning 83-74. Will Lakewood repeat their success, or does Villa Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
