League recap: Hackensack's Morgan delivers best pitching performance from past week

Big North - Freedom's top pitcher this week was Jack Morgan. He won two games and struck out 35 batters.

Teaneck went from 7536 to 7081 in the national rankings since last week after going 1-1 in the past seven days. Teaneck is currently No. 196 in the New Jersey state rankings, with an overall record of 3-4.

Hackensack's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only 102 hits and 77 walks, both of which led the league. On the season, the Comets have allowed just 161 hits, while striking out 79 batters. Morgan leads the Comets with 51 strikeouts in 36 innings.

Hackensack led the league in hits this week with 90, but Paramus is still the season leader, with 178. Morgan has a team-high 17 hits on the season for first-place the Comets, which went 2-10 this week.

Hackensack's Niles Malvasia finished his week with 14 hits, tops in the league. His 17 hits for the year are sixth in the league, and he boasts a .333 batting average.
