Softball Game Preview: Winters Warriors vs. Colusa RedHawks

For the second straight game, Winters will face off against Colusa. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the RedHawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Winters has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Winters' offense. They came up short against Colusa on Tuesday, falling 12-0. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Colusa's part, Ava Garcia made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Garcia has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Colusa got a massive performance out of Caeden Agnew, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Agnew a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elli Santana, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Colusa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Colusa's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Winters, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
