Baseball Recap: Canby Wins Going Away Against MACCRAY

Canby gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the MACCRAY Wolverines. Considering the Lancers have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Morgen Tol was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Canby is 3-1 when Tol allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Tol was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Canby got a massive performance out of Ben Drietz, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Drietz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dyllon Christianson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

Canby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .528 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Canby now has a winning record of 6-5. As for MACCRAY, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Canby will take on Hancock at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for MACCRAY, they will challenge Benson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
