Softball Recap: Northridge Knights vs. Clearfield Falcons
Northridge lost a close one when they played last Friday but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They fell victim to a rough 15-1 defeat at the hands of the Clearfield Falcons. Northridge has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Northridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Shirreffs, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
On Clearfield's side, Jenna Lloyd was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Lloyd has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Lloyd was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Aly Ridge was incredible, going 1-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Elizabeth Salazar was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Northridge's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Clearfield, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Northridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Bountiful at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bountiful is coming into the contest with six straight victories on the road, so Northridge will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Clearfield, they will take on Bonneville at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams will come into the game having just posted big wins, so someone is set to suffer a big change in fortunes.
