Preview: Cosby Titans vs. Huguenot Falcons
Cosby is 6-1 against Huguenot since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Cosby Titans will be playing at home against the Huguenot Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Cosby will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Huguenot is ranked 75th).
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Cosby, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 35-16 loss to James River Midlothian. Cosby has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Huguenot sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-9 victory over L.C. Bird on Friday. The victory was just what Huguenot needed coming off of a 42-20 loss in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Jason Wright, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Markel Dabney got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Cosby's loss was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.25 points per game. Huguenot has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in five of their first six games, giving them a 5-1 record.
Everything came up roses for Cosby against Huguenot in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 49-0 victory. Does Cosby have another victory up their sleeve, or will Huguenot turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
