Softball Game Preview: Geneva Eagles vs. Edgewood Warriors

Geneva hasn't had much luck against Edgewood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will face off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Geneva is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Geneva will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Lakeside on Monday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 21-1 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Caidyn Siegel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Addie Sheppard was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Claire Cafaro was another key player, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Geneva always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside only posted an OBP of .348.

Meanwhile, Edgewood suffered their biggest loss since April 27, 2024 on Monday. They came up short against Perry, falling 11-1.

Geneva's record is now 3-4. As for Edgewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Geneva couldn't quite finish off Edgewood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
