Baseball Recap: Cedar Wins High-Profile Game Against Cedar Valley

Cedar faced Cedar Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Cedar blew past Cedar Valley 17-9. Considering the Reds have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Cedar got a massive performance out of Jake Burgess, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave Burgess a new career-high. Ty Rowley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Cedar kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Cedar and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Cedar Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar will welcome Hurricane at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be Cedar's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Cedar Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Manti at 3:30 p.m.
