Preview: Lumberton Raiders vs. Athens Hornets
The Lumberton Raiders will square off against the Athens Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lumberton will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Lumberton can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They really took it to Livingston for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-21 victory at home. Given Lumberton's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 194th, while Livingston is ranked 567th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lumberton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Powell, who threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Jacob Marchuk got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Athens can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Palestine 49-28.
Lumberton pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.33 points. As for Athens, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
