Preview: St. Maries Lumberjacks vs. Potlatch Loggers

The St. Maries Lumberjacks will be home for the holidays to greet the Potlatch Loggers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully St. Maries focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday.

St. Maries had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-41 victory over Genesis Prep Academy. St. Maries' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

St. Maries had a senior duo take command as Sami Sindt dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds and Tayla Janssen scored eight points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Danika Sloper, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Potlatch's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 53-42 to Genesee.

St. Maries' victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Potlatch, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

St. Maries came up short against Potlatch in their previous matchup back in November, falling 47-39. Will St. Maries have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
