Baseball Recap: Calaveras Takes a Loss

Calaveras fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Bret Harte on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bullfrogs by a score of 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Joey Sweet was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaeden Hudson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Masson Powers was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Calaveras' loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Bret Harte, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-7.

Looking ahead, Bret Harte will face off against Amador at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Calaveras will be paying especially close attention to the Bullfrogs' match: after the Bullfrogs faces off against the Buffaloes, they'll take on Calaveras again at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
