Softball Recap: Desert Vista Wins Going Away Against Sunnyslope

Desert Vista got themselves on the board against Sunnyslope on Wednesday, but Sunnyslope never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won 14 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Thailee Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mckenzie Leitgen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Jaymie Larney was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Desert Vista lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sunnyslope didn't launched any home runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Desert Vista and bumps their season record up to 17-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Sunnyslope, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-10.

Coming up, Desert Vista will take on Skyline at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Sunnyslope, they will square off against Corona del Sol at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
