Softball Recap: Wawasee Comes Up Short

Wawasee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 14-4 to the Elkhart Lions. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

MariJo Bontrager was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Wawasee's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Elkhart, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wawasee will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fairfield at 5:30 p.m. on the 14th. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Elkhart, they will head out to challenge Leo at 11:00 a.m. on the 12th.
