Recap: Elk Grove Thundering Herd vs. Jesuit Marauders
It was a good run, but The Elk Grove Thundering Herd unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. Their tough 28-8 defeat to Jesuit might stick with them for a while. The low total for Elk Grove limited their streak of high-flying scores to four in a row.
David Hale threw for 33 yards and a touchdown. Connor Fish was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Thomas Koi rushed for 41 yards.
Jesuit's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Johnnie Brannon IV, who rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Brannon IV's longest rush was for an incredible 97 yards. CJ Lee was another key contributor, rushing for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Elk Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Jesuit, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elk Grove will face off against Franklin at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Franklin is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Jesuit, they will head out on the road to face off against Davis at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Davis comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
