Baseball Recap: Cole's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Marion, Cole was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Great Hearts Northern Oaks Griffins. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Joseph Zinnante made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Garrison Barker was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Karson Scroggins was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Cole was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Cole's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Great Hearts Northern Oaks, they dropped their record down to 8-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cole is set to face off against their familiar foe Poteet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Great Hearts Northern Oaks will challenge rival Randolph at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
