Softball Game Preview: Bishop Snyder Cardinals vs. Hilliard Red Flashes

Bishop Snyder hasn't had much luck against Hilliard recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cardinals will head out on the road to take on the Red Flashes at 6:30 p.m. Bishop Snyder is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Bishop Snyder challenged Nease on Thursday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lola Aberly made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Chloe Gotto, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hilliard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-4 to Fernandina Beach, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Kaylee Hern was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rileigh King, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

Hilliard's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Bishop Snyder, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Hilliard's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop Snyder hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. It's a different story for Hilliard, though, as they've only averaged .221. Will they be able to contain Bishop Snyder's hitters?

Bishop Snyder skirted past Hilliard 5-3 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
