Preview: Westmont Sentinels vs. Ridgewood Rebels
After three games on the road, Westmont is heading back home. They will take on The Ridgewood Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Westmont really took it to Walther Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 43-6 win on the road. Westmont pushed the score to 37-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Walther Christian Academy had no chance of recovering from.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Ridgewood over Elmwood Park in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Ridgewood blew Elmwood Park out of the water with a 54-3 final score. The result was nothing new for Ridgewood, who have now won three contests by 36 points or more so far this season.
Jaden Rodriguez got back to being his usual excellent self, as he threw for 335 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 16.8 yards per attempt, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Niall Kenny, who picked up 169 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Westmont to 2-6 and Ridgewood to 5-3.
Westmont was dealt a bruising 55-0 defeat at the hands of Ridgewood in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Westmont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
