Baseball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mt. Pulaski, Cornerstone Christian was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Ridgeview Mustangs by a score of 7-2. This was a revenge game for the Cyclones: when they faced off against the Mustangs back in April, they had to take a 4-1 defeat.

Josh Kursell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Cornerstone Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-10 otherwise. Kursell was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Evan Tom was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April.

Cornerstone Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Ridgeview, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Christian will venture away from home to square off against Delavan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Ridgeview, they will head out to take on Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
