Basketball Recap: Josh Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Alief Elsik over Mcneil

Alief Elsik saw some tournament action on Thursday. They took a hard 77-61 fall against the McNeil Mavericks. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly 16 points.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josh Smith, who posted 18 points and six boards. The contest was Smith's seventh in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jose Renteria, who put up eight points and 13 rebounds.

Alief Elsik now has a losing record of 3-4. As for McNeil, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Coincidentally, Alief Elsik and McNeil will both be playing Del Rio the next time they take the court. The Rams will head out to face the Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Mavericks will head out to face them at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
