Baseball Recap: Eminence Find Success

While Eminence's win against Gallatin County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 7-6 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.

Tanner Simpson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaleb Simpson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Kendrick Cassity also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Eminence now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Gallatin County, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Coming up, Eminence will venture away from home to take on Western Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Gallatin County, they will host Calvary Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
