Preview: Bartlesville Bruins vs. Putnam City North Panthers

The Bartlesville Bruins will be playing at home against the Putnam City North Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bartlesville will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Last Friday, Bartlesville took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 51-20 victory over Tahlequah.

Bartlesville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pj Wallace, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 54 receiving yards. Damien Niko was another key contributor, picking up 191 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Putnam City North had to suffer through a rough 45-13 loss at the hands of Deer Creek. While losing is never fun, Putnam City North can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Deer Creek is ranked 31st).

Despite the loss, Putnam City North had strong showings from Milton Alford, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and Camarion Jones, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown. Alford was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards.

Bartlesville's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Putnam City North, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-6.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Bartlesville has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 182.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Putnam City North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 154.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches. Bartlesville might still be hurting after the 31-6 loss they got from Putnam City North in their previous matchup back in November of 2020. Thankfully for Bartlesville, Amaurion Norment (who rushed for 260 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
