Softball Game Preview: Mazama Vikings vs. Phoenix Pirates

For the second straight game, Mazama will face off against Phoenix. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Pirates at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Mazama has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mazama couldn't beat Phoenix on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Vikings came up short against the Pirates, falling 17-7. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost five in a row.

For Phoenix's part, Carsyn Sousa was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Isla Ulrich was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Phoenix lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.

Phoenix's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Mazama, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
