Softball Game Preview: Clio Mustangs vs. Brighton Bulldogs

The Clio Mustangs will face off against the Brighton Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Clio will be strutting in after a victory while Brighton will be coming in after a loss.

Clio's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Goodrich. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Samantha Rinks and Kelcy Sperling did most of the damage at the plate: Rinks went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Sperling went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Veronica Tate, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Clio always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goodrich only posted an OBP of .250.

Meanwhile, Brighton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Northville, falling 13-3.

Libby Carah made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Reece Vawter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Brighton's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Clio, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
