Basketball Recap: Heritage's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Heritage posted their biggest win since December 11, 2024 on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 66-43 margin over the Mullen Mustangs. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Trystan Rangel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 of 11 en route to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Chaney, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 15 points.

Heritage was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mullen only racked up nine assists.

Mullen's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mason Bonner, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, and Ben Medina, who posted 12 points along with five assists and three steals. That was a full 34.9% of Mullen's points, marking the third time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points.

The win got Heritage back to even at 7-7. As for Mullen, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Heritage will take on Castle View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully Castle View likes a good challenge. As for Mullen, they will square off against Overland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mullen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season.
