Baseball Recap: Apollo Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Apollo took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Douglas County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Apollo sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Douglas County on Friday. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 13-5 win the Huskies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2018.

The team relied heavily on Matthew Pena, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Ramos, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Apollo's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Douglas County, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Apollo will challenge West Albany at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Douglas County, they will take on Owyhee at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Owyhee will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Douglas County surely won't give up without a fight.
