Basketball Recap: Parkville Comes Up Short

Parkville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Kenwood Bluebirds on the road by a 67-51 margin. The Knights were down 59-34 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Parkville lost, don't look at Derion Thomas. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Thomas a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Carlin Pearson, who posted five points and seven boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kenwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daz'Mir Giles, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 13 points and eight rebounds. Giles continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Andrew Otuyelu was another key player, going 5-for-10 en route to 13 points.

Parkville's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Kenwood, their record is now 9-11.

Coming up, Parkville will be playing in front of their home fans against Dulaney at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kenwood, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 90-85 defeat against Randallstown on the 20th.
