Softball Recap: Hightstown Victorious

Hightstown's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Hillsborough Raiders by a score of 7-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Kady Olsen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kayla Horana, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Hayden Bustos was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Hightstown has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hillsborough, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hightstown will welcome Robbinsville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hillsborough, they will challenge Bridgewater-Raritan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
