Softball Recap: Southampton Academy Takes a Loss

Southampton Academy suffered their closest defeat since April 26, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the John Paul II Catholic Saints by a score of 8-6.

Southampton Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sara Hodges, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another was Layla Weaver, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Southampton Academy now has a losing record of 1-2-1. As for John Paul II Catholic, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Looking ahead, Southampton Academy will face off against Kenston Forest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kenston Forest's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Southampton Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for John Paul II Catholic, they will square off against Faith Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Faith Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
