St. Charles East was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Geneva on Wednesday. The Fighting Saints' pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Fighting Saints have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
St. Charles East got a great performance from Kyli Dunn as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Hayden Sujack was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Caleigh Higgins was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
St. Charles East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
St. Charles East now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Geneva, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. St. Charles East is set to face off against their familiar foe Lake Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Fighting Saints 4, the Lancers 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Geneva will take on rival St. Charles North at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
