High school girls basketball: Bella Ferguson of Tennessee tops national assists leaders

David Crockett High School sophomore has reached double figures in assists 18 times in 24 games.

Bella Ferguson of David Crockett (Jonesborough, Tenn.) is high school girls basketball's national leader in assists per game at 11.9 per game, according to statistics submitted to MaxPreps.

Ferguson dished out a season-high 19 assists during a 90-40 win over West Greene in November. The 5-foot-4 sophomore point guard has reached double figures in assists 18 times this winter.

Sophomore Veralyn Aviles of Bergtraum (New York, N.Y.) is No. 2 nationally with an average of 9.6 assists per contest. The 5-7 guard dished out a season-high 15 assists in a 74-14 win over School of the Future in December. Aviles has reached double figures in assists six times in 2022-23.

Madison Guzman of Jefferson (San Antonio, Texas) is No. 3, producing 9.4 assists a game. The senior point guard has eight triple-doubles this season.
