Mid-State 38 - Raritan recap Oct. 3, 2012

Summit extended the longest winning streak in Mid-State 38 - Raritan this week by beating North Plainfield, 31-12. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Hilltoppers.

Summit suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 31-12 loss to Summit. The Hilltoppers had been ranked 21st, but fell to 29 following the defeat.

Cranford's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Reggie Green threw for 21 yards and Evan Zoughy had 18 yards receiving. On the ground Jimmy Dwyer chipped in 184 yards. Bobby Bruns helped Cranford's passing attack out by catching one ball for 13 yards.

Abraham Clark's Tyrone Crutchfield and James Womble have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Crutchfield has thrown for 402 yards this season, while Womble, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 10 catches for 136 yards. Delaware Valley's Dionisio Roman leads the league in rushing yards with 614.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Terriers take on the Cougars. As it stands, Delaware Valley is in second, while Cranford is in third.

There should be lots of points scored when Mike Columbo's team and the Cougars face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Terriers comes in having scored 111 this season, while Cranford has scored 100.

Summit took down the Canucks 31-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
