Basketball Game Preview: Pine View Panthers vs. Cedar Reds

Pine View and Cedar are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Pine View Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Cedar Reds at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Pine View didn't have too much trouble with Dixie as they won 51-35.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pine View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ella Fiefia, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 15 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Fiefia a new career-high in blocks (two). Kenedy Eves was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Cedar's strategy against Dixie on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Cedar blew Dixie out of the water with a 67-39 final score. The Reds pushed the score to 51-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Flyers had little chance of recovering from.

Cedar's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Pine View, their record is now 12-9.

Pine View couldn't quite finish off Cedar when the teams last played back in January and fell 52-50. Can Pine View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
