Preview: North Union Wildcats vs. River Valley Vikings
North Union and River Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The North Union Wildcats will be playing at home against the River Valley Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. North Union is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
Even though Northwestern scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, North Union still came out on top. North Union walked away with a 64-56 victory over Northwestern. Given North Union's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Northwestern is ranked 732nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, River Valley beat Galion 51-47 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for River Valley.
North Union pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for River Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Things could have been worse for North Union, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 71-55 loss to River Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2022.
