Basketball Recap: Bryce Peters' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ashe County over South Caldwell

Ashe County lost against South Caldwell back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Ashe County Huskies lost to the South Caldwell Spartans at home by a 55-36 margin. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 437th, while the Spartans are ranked 136th).

Ashe County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Bryce Peters, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points. Ian Graybeal was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Ashe County dropped their record down to 7-13 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for South Caldwell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Coming up, Ashe County will head out to square off against Watauga at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Caldwell, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hibriten at 8:00 p.m.
