Recap: Independent Panthers vs. Bartlesville Bruins
The Independent Panthers can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They walked away with a 44-37 win over Bartlesville. Given Independent's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 85th in Kansas, while Bartlesville is ranked 285th in Oklahoma), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Independent can attribute much of their success to Sean Williams, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Oliver Selmon, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Independent's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Bartlesville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Independent and KIPP Tulsa University Prep will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. KIPP Tulsa University Prep is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses. As for Bartlesville, they will head out on the road to take on Union at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 643 points over their last nine matches.
