Basketball Game Preview: Waskom Wildcats vs. Beckville Bearcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Waskom Wildcats face off against the Beckville Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday... Waskom's offense hasn't had much luck over their past 11 matchups, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Waskom was beaten by Timpson 74-8. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1584th, while the Bears are ranked 713th).

Meanwhile, Beckville hadn't done well against Joaquin recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Beckville had just enough and edged Joaquin out 32-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bearcats have posted since December 7, 2024.

Waskom's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Beckville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-15 record this season.

Waskom took a serious blow against Beckville in their previous meeting on January 7th, falling 49-20. Can Waskom avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
