Recap: Watkins Mill Wolverines vs. Magruder Colonels
The Watkins Mill Wolverines pushed their score all the way to 70 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of Magruder. Watkins Mill has not had much luck with Magruder recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Magruder's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sekou Bangoura, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Gerald Suarez was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Watkins Mill's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Magruder, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-2.
Watkins Mill will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Damascus on February 13th. As for Magruder, they will play host again and welcome Poolesville, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Magruder has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 598 points over their last nine contests.
