Basketball Preview: Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans vs. Williston-Elko Blue Devils

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Williston-Elko Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hunter-Kinard-Tyler focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday.

Last Friday, Hunter-Kinard-Tyler didn't have too much trouble with the War Eagles on the road as they won 42-24. Given Hunter-Kinard-Tyler's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the War Eagles are ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hunter-Kinard-Tyler to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tilayzia Youmans, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Youmans is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Akeira Blue, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Williston-Elko has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were outmatched by Denmark-Olar on the road and fell 78-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Williston-Elko has scored all season.

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Williston-Elko, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler lost to the Blue Devils at home by a decisive 58-41 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2023.
