Preview: Cass City Red Hawks vs. Laker Lakers
The Cass City Red Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Laker Lakers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cass City will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
Even though Cass City has not done well against Reese recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Cass City walked away with a 60-50 win over Reese. Given Cass City's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Reese is ranked 416th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Laker had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their matchup on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 65-24 win over Vassar. That looming 65-24 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Laker yet this season.
Cass City's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Laker, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-5.
Things could have been worse for Cass City, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-35 loss to Laker in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Cass City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
