Eureka takes loss despite strong efforts from Julian Goodman and Elijah Estrada

Recap: Eureka Loggers vs. University Prep Panthers

The Eureka Loggers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of University Prep. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Eureka was outscored by University Prep in the second.

Despite the loss, Eureka had strong showings from Elijah Estrada, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Julian Goodman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Estrada continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahmil Rippy, who scored seven points.

Eureka's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 12-10. As for University Prep, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eureka will take on Del Norte at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. University Prep won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Anderson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1075th, while University Prep is ranked 391st).
