Union Pines fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Hoke County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bucks by a score of 6-5.

Meanwhile, Midlakes lost 11-2 to Mynderse Academy on Wednesday.

Midlakes' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Union Pines, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.
