Clinton is 8-2 against Germantown since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Arrows will be playing at home against the Mavericks at 7:00 p.m.
Clinton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Oxford, who was ranked fifth at the time (Clinton was ranked 18th). The Arrows took a 33-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers on Friday. That makes it the first time this season the Arrows have let down their home crowd.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jayden Jones, who rushed for 126 yards and one score, and also threw for 122 yards and one touchdown. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 50 yards. Boskey Evans was another key back, rushing for 97 yards.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. All came from Braylen Spann: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 2-for-2 kicking extra points for an additional two.
Even if they lost, Clinton's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Christian Cavett, Dallas Johnson, and Davon Merchant, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Germantown, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They snuck past Madison Central with a 21-17 victory on Friday.
Clinton better keep an eye on King White. He was instrumental in Germantown's win, rushing for 111 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 137 yards on nine of 19 attempts. That's the most rushing yards White has posted since back in September of 2024.
Germantown's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points over those games. As for Clinton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
